This beautifully hand-woven Kain Dastar is indigenous to the Iranun communities of the District of Kota Belud, Sabah. It is usually woven using bright colored threads with metallic gold highlights to enhance the richness of the design. Kain Dastar is traditionally worn as ‘Sigah’ or ‘Sigar’ as ceremonial headgear by the ethnics communities of Sabah. This particular piece is specially commissioned and hand-woven by renowned master-weaver Puan Hajah Pandian Sulaiman of Kg. Rampayan Laut, Kota Belud. Today, the Kain Dastar is incorporated in contemporary designs, from handbags to decorative household items.
